Programs

The Schomberg Skating Club is a registered member of Skate Canada and offers Skate Canada programs with professional coaching.

Learn to Skate / CanSkate Programme

This program is offered to children age 3 and up and teaches the fundamentals of good skating technique for either aspiring hockey players, figure skaters or recreational skaters.
There are 50 minutes of instruction with a professional coach or a program assistant in a group setting.
Skaters progress through a series of badges, report cards and receive other incentives.
At the end of the season each skater participates in a fun club competition – every skater receives a medal on the podium for their efforts.

Sessions are offered on:

Tuesdays (pm) 6:30 to 7:20
Saturdays (am) 9:00 to 9:50

FALL WINTER BOTH
Fees for 1 day are $260 $210 $425
Fees for both days are $450 $360 $675

Plus a $30.00 Skate Canada Fee

For CanSkate participants we advise of the following:

  • a CCM certified skating helmet and gloves must be worn by each skater, splash or snow pants are recommended
  • an adult responsible for each child must be present at the arena during skating sessions
  • if it is found that a child is not ready for an organized program, the program fee (minus a $100 administration fee) is refundable within the first three weeks
  • parents or guardians are NOT permitted on the ice
  • rink doors are to remain closed during session

Junior Programme

Canskate / Learn to Skate skaters can move up to the Junior program when they have passed their Canskate level 5 and/or are recommended for advancement by a coach.
They will continue to receive 30 minutes of group lessons in stroking, dance or freeskate from a professional coach.

Sessions are offered on:

Tuesdays (pm) 5:30 to 6:30
Saturdays (am) 9:50 to 10:50

Intermediate / Senior Programme

The intermediate and senior ice times are for the more advanced skaters.
Intermediate skaters must have passed their Preliminary freeskate or dance tests, and seniors must have passed their Junior Bronze freeskate or dance tests.
There will be a 15 minute group stroking class with a professional coach.
The remaining time will be for private lessons and practice.

Sessions are offered on:

Tuesdays (pm) 5:00 to 6:30
Saturdays (am) 9:50 to 11:20
